1. It Protects You from Harmful Fumes

The number one job of a fume hood is to keep the air clean.

When scientists work with chemicals, many of them release vapors or fumes. Breathing these in can be dangerous. Some can cause irritation, while others can lead to serious health issues over time.

A fume hood acts like a powerful fan. It constantly pulls air away from the user and out of the lab. This means harmful fumes never get a chance to build up in the room. As a result, the person working there breathes safely.

2. It Acts as a Physical Barrier

Safety isn't just about air quality. It is also about keeping a safe distance between the scientist and the chemicals.
